Description
The SRTM 60080 Split Flange Mold Seal Profile makes the SEAL GROOVE when building the removable portion(s) of the mold cavity; this profile is not the actual seal. Using the SRTM 60080 profile provides the precise seal groove width and depth in the face of the movable parting line flange.
The seal profile is used to make the mold flange, so once the moveable side of the mold is completed, it is removed and replaced with the SRTM60081 seal to create the actual reusable seal on the split line flanges of the mold cavity.
The profile is 1/4" x 1/4" and is provided in 10-foot rolls made of reusable heat-cured 100% silicone rubber.
NOTE: When a die-locked part requires a split mold, the V Groove perimeter seal is required. The "V" groove has its own profile see SRTM60084 profile. NOTICE in the photos, the part is an example of a die-locked bumper end, which has a final minor seam line in the "A" side of the part outside the mold. The black section of the removable mold cavity shows a crossection of the 60084 seal in place having first the seal GROOVE made using this profile. The ends of the 60084 seal engage with the SRTM silicone membrane in the "V" groove that circumvents the entire mold cavity flange. The black mold cavity shown in this example has two V channels, which is one way it can be done however only one channel is needed. As a part of the complete SRTM process and tooling design, the SRTM60081 seal will engage the circumventing perimeter "V" Groove around the primary cavity flange.
The final results provide a repeatable means of creating a "split mold" cavity, enabling the production of a " die-locked " part using a reusable silicone membrane upper.
